Ich habe in letz­ter Zeit Musik aus bestimm­ten Jah­ren gehört. Genau genom­men habe ich mir die Lis­te der Alben ange­se­hen bzw. ange­hört, die in einem jewei­li­gen Jahr erschie­nen sind. Beson­ders in den Jah­ren 1971, 1978, 1984 und 1993 pas­sier­te eini­ges.

1984

Jetzt gera­de neh­me ich mir das Jahr 1984 vor. In dem Jahr wur­de ich im Dezem­ber 18 und war in der 11. Klas­se. Ich wer­de die gan­zen Alben chro­no­lo­gisch durch­hö­ren. Auf­fäl­lig ist jetzt schon, dass die Sti­le sich auf­spal­ten bis hin zu ein­zel­nen Grup­pen und Künstler’innen. Zwar war auch schon Bowie stil­prä­gend, aber mit den Musik­in­stru­men­ten und Pro­duk­tio­nen war in den 80ern mehr mög­lich. Was vor­her noch auf­wän­dig und neu war, floss jetzt in Pop-Pro­duk­tio­nen ein.

Viel­leicht emp­fin­de ich das aber auch nur so, weil es mei­ne Geschich­te spie­gelt. Vor den Acht­zi­gern konn­te man noch alles par­al­lel hören. Die Jugend­kul­tur trenn­te sich in weni­ge gro­ße Grup­pen. Danach spal­te­ten sich immer mehr klei­ne Grup­pen ab. Jedes Jahr kam eine neue Mode und spal­te­te sich ein neu­er Stil ab. So kam es mir vor und wenn ich mir die Lis­te der Alben anse­he, dann bestä­tigt sich mein Bild.

Die Pro­duk­tio­nen wur­den prä­zi­ser, die Sounds indi­vi­du­el­ler. Künstler’innen ent­wi­ckel­ten eige­ne indi­vi­du­el­le Sti­le, die gab es zwar vor­her auch schon, Zap­pa und Bowie waren unver­wech­sel­bar, aber in den Acht­zi­gern höre ich eine durch­ge­hen­de Indi­vi­dua­li­sie­rung. Klän­ge bestimm­ten zuneh­mend die Musik mit. Ich glau­be, dass man nach­wei­sen könn­te, dass die Mög­lich­kei­ten der Klang­er­zeu­gung deut­lich zunahm, nicht nur durch Syn­the­si­zer, son­dern auch mit­tels Auf­nah­me­tech­ni­ken.

Das Buch von Tre­vor Horn Adven­tures in Modern Recor­ding ist schon auf der Lese­lis­te.
