Simon Croft hat eine außer­ge­wöhn­lich tol­le Foto­se­rie mit dem Titel „Bal­let rus­ses – the Rus­si­an bal­let tra­di­ti­on in Eas­tern Euro­pe“ erar­bei­tet.

„Disci­pli­ne and punc­tua­li­ty are a fea­ture of ever­y­day life for a bal­let pupil, whe­re the­re is inten­se com­pe­ti­ti­on to obtain places at the school, and stay the­re. Many of the tea­chers have trai­ned under the Rus­si­an bal­let tea­ching sys­tem based on the Vaga­no­va method, in the schools of the Kirov and the Bolshoi in St. Peters­burg, whe­re iron disci­pli­ne is a fea­ture of the tea­ching sys­tem. The deman­ding sche­du­le is a pre­pa­ra­ti­on for life out­side the school, whe­re fin­ding and kee­ping work as a pro­fes­sio­nal bal­let dancer can be tough.“

Ich bin ja froh, dass ich die Frei­heit genie­ßen kann, kein Bal­lett­tän­zer zu wer­den und das aus­schließ­lich für mich zu machen. Trotz­dem pro­fi­tie­re ich von der Lehr­me­tho­de und wer­de auch nach ihr unter­rich­tet. Mei­ne bei­den Leh­rer erzäh­len dann immer zwi­schen­drin, mit wel­cher Här­te und Stren­ge sie frü­her unter­rich­tet wur­den. Ich genie­ße die Kom­bi­na­ti­on aus Selbst­dis­zi­plin und äuße­rem Ansporn.
